What we build
The platform.
Quanthem191 builds and operates a cloud platform for quantitative research and provides it as a service. Researchers get advanced tools for collecting, managing and analysing data that accumulates over time, on a platform that runs semi-autonomously: advanced AI carries the work from preparation through experiment to review, and leaves the judgment to the researcher.
The data systems, the computation and the research tools are our own, built and operated in house. They were built for the institution's own research, and are provided to others in three forms: by subscription, to teams that bring their own questions, and as a research engagement carried out alongside them.
Collection and custody
Records are gathered as they arrive and kept with their origin and their timing, so that what was known at any past moment can be reconstructed exactly.
Analysis and patterns
Tools for finding structure in a record: what recurs, when behaviour changes character, and how one series stands in relation to another.
Models and their testing
Models are built, tested and compared under one procedure. Every experiment is retained with its configuration and its outcome.
Computation at scale
Work that would occupy a workstation for months is arranged to run where and when it is most economical, with no effect on the result it produces.
Method
The standards the work is held to.
They are fixed, and they apply to everything the institution produces.
- The work runs continuously. Data arrives, models are refreshed and results are reviewed on a fixed cadence, without depending on anyone's attention.
- Results are reproducible, and failures are visible. Every number traces to the data and the code that produced it. A check that cannot run is recorded as a failure, not as a pass.
- Negative results are kept. A question that turns out to have no answer is recorded with the same care as one that does. Most have none.
- Confidences hold. What is shared with us stays with us. What we learn alongside a partner stays between us.
